Why not leave the car behind and travel to the area by public transport? Just sit back and relax and enjoy some of the best views in the country.
By Train
The Furness line services operating between Barrow and Lancaster pass through the National Landscape, offering spectacular views across Morecambe Bay and the Kent Estuary. There are stations inside the National Landscape at Arnside and Silverdale and at Carnforth just to the south of the National Landscape boundary.
You can pick up West Coast mainline trains at Lancaster and there are also frequent trains providing a direct service to and from Manchester and Manchester Airport. For further information on what to see and do along the Furness Line, visit the Furness Line Community Rail Partnership website.
Information about rail services to the area and booking rail tickets can be found via National Rail Enquiries. Combined train and coach journeys can be booked through Trainline.
By Bus
There is a bus service from Carnforth Railway Station to Holgates Caravan Park in Silverdale, via Warton, the Yealands, Silverdale Railway Station and Silverdale Village. It is also possible to get to the National Landscape by bus from Kendal in the north and Lancaster in the south. Stagecoach operates regular services, details of which can be found on the Traveline website.
