Arnside & Silverdale Development Plan Document
A dedicated Development Plan Document (DPD) for the National Landscape has been adopted jointly by Westmorland & Furness Council and Lancaster City Council. This formal planning policy document is part of both authorities’ Local Plans and sets out a series of detailed planning policies and land allocations for Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape. The document can be used by residents, property owners, developers, architects and planning agents.
The overall development strategy is that all development should be sustainable and consistent with the primary purpose of designation, i.e. to conserve and enhance natural beauty. The document also contains detailed policies on Landscape; Housing Provision; Natural Environment; Open Space and Recreation; Key Settlement Landscapes (sites to be protected from development); Historic Environment; Design; Economic Development and Community Facilities; Infrastructure for New Development; Camping, Caravan and Visitor Accommodation; Water Quality, Sewerage and Sustainable Drainage, Energy and Communications, Advertising and Signage; and Development Allocations.
