Working Together

To achieve effective conservation and enhancement of the area, we work together in a wider partnership. We are very grateful for the continued financial support of key partners Westmorland & Furness Council, Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council, local parish councils and Defra, along with close and fruitful partnerships with many other organisations, landowners, farmers, businesses and community groups, both large and small.

A particularly strong relationship has been developed with other conservation organisations in the area such as:

The National Landscapes Association

National Landscapes are particularly special landscapes whose distinctive character and natural beauty are so outstanding that it is in the nation’s interest to safeguard them.

There are 46 National Landscapes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland which cover 18% of our countryside and along with National Parks represent our finest landscapes. From areas of lowland heath and gently rolling hills to coastal plains and shingle beaches, all have been designated for their valuable wildlife, habitats, geology and cultural heritage as well as scenic views.

National Landscape Partnerships from across the country work together as the National Landscape Family, sharing experience, promoting good practice and fostering collaboration to ensure these special landscapes are cared for, now and in the future.

You can find out more about National Landscapes across the county via the National Landscapes Association website: https://national-landscapes.org.uk/

Morecambe Bay Local Nature Partnership

The National Landscape Partnership is a key member of the Morecambe Bay Local Nature Partnership (LNP) which aims to create a bright future for the area. Our ambition is to act as a catalyst for significantly improving the quality of the natural environment and connecting nature, businesses and communities.

LNPs work strategically to help their local area manage the natural environment. They aim to make sure that its value, and the value of the services it provides to the economy and the people who live there, is considered in local decisions, for example about planning and development.
