About Teddy Heights

Teddy Heights was purchased by the Arnside / Silverdale National Landscape Trust in 2004 and is being developed into a small nature reserve. The Reserve comprises three distinct habitats; wet grassland to the southwest including woodland to the north that has an ancient woodlands appeal together with secondary semi-natural woodland covering the remaining area.

If you visit this site you might see:

Oak, Ash and Yew is being improved to encourage woodland birds especially Marsh Tit, Bullfinch, Nuthatch and Blackcap and usual woodland birds.

Wheelchair accessibility: This area is not suitable for wheelchairs due to the incline and gates.

Terrain & Incline: Lower field is flat grassland. A steep path takes you up the managed woodland and a public footpath which. The footpath runs north- south through the reserve. At the north most end is more mature woodland. Small paths parallel the main footpath. 

Usual Visit Length: 30 mins.

Benches: None

Dogs: Dogs are allowed if kept on a short lead to protect the wildlife.

Bikes: No

Picnicking: Picnics are welcome, but no fires or barbeques please. Remember to take rubbish away with you.

Nearest Toilets: None on site. There are serviced public toilets on the promenade at Arnside which include disabled access. A fee is required for entry which can only be paid by card. RADAR keys are also accepted for the disabled toilet. Find them at ///renewals.venturing.skate

Nearest Cafe: Arnside Promenade, 1.5-2km, 30-40 minute walk

Public Transport

Trains: Arnside Station (1 miles, 30 minute walk)

Buses: There are bus services that stop at the end of Carr Bank Road, on the B282.

Parking: The south end of the nature reserve has only one space for a car. The North end can be accessed by parking at Keasdale road SD 477 791 and following the public footpath south from a road bend, along a private road (no parking).

Who owns and manages the reserve?

Teddy Heights is owned and managed by the Arnside / Silverdale Landscape Trust.

Working with the National Landscape Team

The Landscape Trust manage this area in accordance with the National Landscape Management Plan. The National Landscape team support local landowners and land managers in the implementation of the Management Plan, which is designed to conserve the unique landscape of the area.
