About Hyning Scout Wood
The ancient Hyning Scout woodland lies along Hyning Road between Yealand Conyers and Warton with a number of public access points offering walks beneath the shading canopy of giant Beech and Sweet Chestnut trees around a circular route. Look out for Limestone pavements and Roe deer as well as a Lime Kiln which has been sympathetically restored as part of the National Landscape’s Limestone Heritage project to help depict the area’s industrial heritage.

Wheelchair accessibility: This area is not suitable for wheelchairs due to rugged terrain.
Terrain & Incline: Much of Hyning Scout Wood is level with some exceptions. Certain areas are rugged and slippery when wet.
Usual Visit Length: 1-2 hours.
Benches: No
Dogs: Dogs are allowed, but they must be kept under control at all times to help protect wildlife.
Bikes: No
Picnicking: Picnics are welcome, but no fires or barbeques please. Remember to take rubbish away with you.
Nearest Toilets: There are no public toilets near Hyning Scout Wood. The nearest are at Carnforth - ///paddocks.split.fountain
Nearest Cafe: There are several pubs in Warton and cafes in Carnforth.
Public Transport
Trains: Carnforth Station (2 miles, 40 min walk including sections of road without pavement)
Buses: The Stagecoach No 51 service - Carnforth Railway Station to Holgates Caravan Park - passes along Hyning Road at the side of Hyning Scout Wood.
Parking: There are a limited number of rough roadside car parking spaces along Hyning road adjacent to public access points to Hyning Scout Wood.

Working with the National Landscape Team
Woodland Trust manage this area in accordance with the National Landscape Management Plan, and National Landscape volunteers undertake occasional work parties at Hyning Scout Wood. The National Landscape team support local landowners and land managers in the implementation of the Management Plan, which is designed to conserve the unique landscape of the area.
