We would like to encourage people to leave the car behind when visiting the landscape, and visit by public transport, exploring by foot or by bike.
If you visit the National Landscape by bike, here are a few tips:
- We have a lot of hills, so you might want to consider a e-bike if you’re unused to cycling
- There are only two main Bridleways in the National Landscape, and it’s not permitted to cycle on footpaths, meaning most cycling is restricted to the roads. Wear high vis clothing so you’re visible on the narrow and winding roads.
- There are speed restrictions in all the villages, generally at 20mph. Please respect the speed limits and watch out for children, elderly people and other walkers.
Electric Bike Hire
Electric Bikes can be hired from ease-e-ride, located just up from Arnside Railway Station. There are also pickup points at other locations within the National Landscape. Find out more on their website: https://easeeride.co.uk/
The Electric Bike Network
As part of the Morecambe Bay Electric Bike Network, you can recharge your bikes at Arnside Chip Shop. For further information, visit Morecambe Bay Electric Bike Network.
