Landscape Trust Eventbrite PageA walk through the National Landscape from Silverdale to Arnside (rail return option) illustrating the importance of limestone in the area.
We're taking a walk through the National Landscape visiting various features linked to the use of limestone in the area.
This route is of moderate difficulty, using paths with uneven ground, inclines and stiles. The walk is about 5 miles and will last for approx. 3 hours with an opportunity to break for lunch. The route will go between Silverdale Railway Station and Arnside Railway Station. Return is either by train or walking which is a further 3 miles and takes 1-2 hours.
Please bring:
- suitable clothing, including layers and a waterproof jacket
- water / drinks
- food (either snacks for energy or a pack up) - and remember to have a big breakfast!
- sunscreen (if sunny)
- walking boots
- spare socks (just in case)
- a phone
- walking poles (if usually used)
Unfortunately this route includes sections within nature reserves which do not permit dogs, in order to minimise wildlife disturbance. No dogs permitted.
A reminder e-mail with contact information will be sent out prior to the event. We'd like to encourage as many people as possible to attend using public transport, and will be meeting at Silverdale Railway Station.
This is a joint Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust and Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape event.
This event is free for Landscape Trust members - membership costs just £15 a year. Find out how to sign up here: https://landscapetrust.org.uk/joining
