Join us for a walk around Warton, taking in some of the history and heritage of the village plus an optional ascent of Warton Crag

We're taking a 3.75km walk through the village of Warton, taking in various of the historic features of the area. After lunch there will be the option of a 3km walk ascending the Crag to visit the beacon and site of the ancient settlement.

This route is of moderate difficulty, using paths with uneven ground, inclines and stiles. The morning walk will last for approx. 2 hours and the afternoon approx 1.5 hours

No dogs permitted - this route includes sections within nature reserves which do not permit dogs, in order to minimise wildlife disturbance.

Please bring:

  • suitable clothing, including layers and a waterproof jacket
  • water / drinks
  • food (either snacks for energy or a pack up) - and remember to have a big breakfast!
  • sunscreen (if sunny)
  • walking boots
  • spare socks (just in case)
  • a phone
  • walking poles (if usually used)

An e-mail with details about meeting points and other information will be sent out prior to the event. We'd like to encourage as many people as possible to attend using public transport, and will arrange to meet people at the bus stop in Warton village, which connects to Carnforth and Silverdale Railway Stations.

This is a joint Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust and Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape event.

This event is free for Landscape Trust members - membership costs just £15 a year. Find out how to sign up here: https://www.arnsidesilverdaleaonb.org.uk/get-involved/landscape-trust/how-to-join/
