Landscape Trust Eventbrite Booking PageWe're walking one of the most popular routes in the National Landscape, taking a trip to the fairy steps. Local legend says if you can make it up the narrow ravine without touching the sides the fairies will grant you a wish! This route follows the old coffin route from Arnside to Beetham, and we'll point out various features of historic interest along the way.
This route is of moderate difficulty, using paths with uneven ground, inclines and several stiles. The route includes several steep inclines. The walk is ca. 4 miles and will last for approx. 4-5 hours. There will be an opportunity to break for lunch in Beetham, and the walk will finish near Arnside Promenade, where there are shops, cafes and toilets.
Please bring:
- suitable clothing, including layers and a waterproof jacket
- water / drinks
- food (either snacks for energy or a pack up) - and remember to have a big breakfast!
- sunscreen (if sunny)
- walking boots
- spare socks (just in case)
- a phone
- walking poles (if usually used)
We ask that you don't bring dogs as we're walking through some areas with grazing cattle.
An e-mail with details about meeting points and other information will be sent out prior to the event.
This is a joint Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust and Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape event.
This event is free for Landscape Trust members - membership costs just £15 a year. Places are £5 per person for non-members.
Places must be pre-booked via Eventbrite - if you are unable to book via EventBrite contact us direct on bookings@landscapetrust.org.uk or 01524 761034.
