Landscape Trust Eventbrite PageAfter a special Jacob's join marking our 40th birthday, Richard Bardgett will talk about climate change effects on plants & soil ecology.
Professor Richard Bardgett is a Distinguished Professor in Ecology now at Lancaster University (www.lancaster.ac.uk/lec/about-us/people/richard-bardgett).
A major focus of his recent research is ecological resilience, and understanding how below-ground communities and the biogeochemical cycles they regulate respond to and recover from climate extremes. Richard's work in this area has led to foundational insights and practical implementation of below-ground ecological concepts for climate mitigation and the restoration of degraded ecosystems.
Preceding the lecture we will have our traditional Jacob's join (drinks will be available), supplemented by some extras to mark the Trust's 40th birthday.
We also plan to have a display remembering the early days of the Trust.
